Facebook video ads

Facebook ads that stop the thumb.

Make Facebook and Instagram feed ads from a product URL or a brief: 4:5 for the feed, 9:16 for Stories and Reels, 1:1 when one cut has to run everywhere. Captions are burned in, because feed video autoplays muted. A 15-second Studio ad is 120 credits.

The feed autoplays on mute

Most Facebook feed video starts silently, between a friend's photo and a news story. If the first frame doesn't say what it is, the ad is gone before the sound could have helped.

Meta also prefers a different shape per placement, so a horizontal video cropped to fit loses its text at the edges and looks like an afterthought in Stories.

Made for Meta placements

Captions by default

Word-timed captions in your brand font, so the message lands with the sound off.

One layout per placement

4:5 for feeds, 9:16 for Stories and Reels, 1:1 for everything else: each format is recomposed, not cropped.

The offer before the scroll

The sales structure puts the product and the offer in the first beats, and the call to action on the end card.

Variants to test

Ask for several independent takes in one batch (up to 10 on Pro) and let your ad set pick the winner.

  • Make the 4:5 version first: on phones it fills more of the feed than a square.
  • Keep prices and logos away from the bottom of Stories and Reels, where the app puts its buttons.

An example of the storyboard pitchboom writes before anything is rendered: scenes, on-screen text, motion and voice-over. You can rewrite any line or swap a scene for free, then approve.

  1. Scene 1, 0:00–0:02, Hook. On screen: “Skin, but louder.”. Motion · Product hero: the bottle rises into frame on a lime ground.

  3. Scene 3, 0:05–0:10, Solution. On screen: “Vitamin C + niacinamide”. Motion · Feature list: two ingredients tick in beside the bottle.

VO · Vitamin C and niacinamide, in one light serum.

  4. Scene 4, 0:10–0:13, Offer. On screen: “€24 · free delivery”. Motion · Price tag: the sticker drops onto the product photo.

VO · Twenty-four euros, delivered free.

Angles that work

The silent-first frame

Write the first frame as if nobody will ever hear the voice-over: product, benefit, brand.

“Glowly · Vitamin C serum · 30 ml”

The retargeting reminder

For people who already visited, skip the introduction and answer the question that stopped them.

“Still thinking? Returns are free.”

The comparison

A before / after split works in every Meta placement and needs no sound at all.

“Tuesday skin / Glowly skin”

Credits come with your plan (Starter €30/month, 3,000 credits · Pro €99/month, 11,000 credits · Premium €300/month, 37,500 credits, excl. VAT). Videos shorter than 15 seconds are billed as 15. Every paid action shows an estimate first. When you confirm, the estimate is held from your balance; each finished step consumes its share, and whatever isn't used is released when the job ends. If a render fails on our side, the credits it consumed are refunded automatically.

Fair questions.

What size should a Facebook video ad be?

pitchboom exports 4:5 at 1080×1350, 9:16 at 1080×1920 and 1:1 at 1080×1080, as 1080p MP4 files (H.264 video, AAC audio, 30 fps). Those are the shapes Meta's feeds, Stories and Reels use; check the Ads Guide for the current limits of each placement.

How long should a Facebook video ad be?

Short enough to be watched to the end in the feed: our Facebook preset defaults to 15 seconds, and a 6-second cut is useful as a reminder. Longer videos (30 seconds and more) suit explainers and retargeting.

How much does a 15-second Facebook ad cost?

A 15-second video at the Studio tier is 120 credits: storyboard, voice-over, music and the 1080p MP4 render included (€1.20 of credits at the Starter rate, €0.96 on Premium). Credits come with your plan: Starter €30/month for 3,000 credits, Pro €99/month for 11,000 credits, Premium €300/month for 37,500 credits (excl. VAT). You see the estimate before you confirm; it is held, each finished step uses its share, and what isn't used goes back to your balance.

Will Meta approve the ad?

Nobody can promise that: Meta reviews every ad against its own advertising policies, including your product, your claims and your landing page. pitchboom keeps texts and logos out of the zones the app's interface covers and exports a standard 1080p MP4 (H.264, AAC, 30 fps), but approval and performance depend on you and the platform.

Can I get the same video in other formats?

Yes. A format variant recomposes every scene for the new aspect ratio (16:9, 9:16, 1:1, 4:5, 3:4): texts and images are laid out again, not cropped. It is a priced operation quoted before you confirm: a 15-second Studio variant is 42 credits.

Can I use the videos in paid ads?

Yes. The videos you make are yours to use in your own marketing, paid ads included, on any platform. The default music bed is generated by our own code, so there is no third-party track to license. You stay responsible for what you put in a video: claims, logos, product photos and trademarks you upload or describe (see the content policy).
